What is the Australian Masters Athletics Championships? +

The Australian Masters Athletics Championships is an annual track and field competition for athletes aged 30 and above. In 2027, the event will take place in Perth, Western Australia, featuring a variety of age-group events.

Who is eligible to compete? +

You need to be over 30 and a member of a Masters Athletics Club.

How can I join if I'm not a club member? +

If you are not a member you need to join before completing the registration form. For Australian entrants you can find details of State Masters Clubs at https://australianmastersathletics.org.au.

Registration and Entries

How do I register? +

Registrations must be online via the link on this website. You must be a member of a Masters Athletics club before completing the form and you will be asked to confirm your club membership on the form

When is the registration deadline? +

Once finalised, this will be clearly stated on the website.

How are age categories determined? +

Competitors are grouped in 5-year age brackets (e.g., M/W30-34, M/W35-39, M/W40-44, etc.), determined by your age on the first day of the competition.

Events and Timetables

What types of events are included? +

The Championships will feature a broad range of events, including sprints, middle and long-distance track races, jumps, throws, relays, racewalks, cross-country, and combined events like the pentathlon.

When will the event timetable be available? +

A preliminary timetable showing what event are on which day will be published some months prior to the event. The detailed timetable will be published around 2 weeks prior to the event.

Uniforms and Gear

What do I wear? +

Competitors must wear the approved uniform of their State or Territory Masters Association. International athletes should wear their national masters association uniform, or if unavailable, a plain white top.

Am I allowed to bring my own throwing equipment? +

Yes, participants may bring their own throwing implements as long as they are weighed and approved during equipment check-in, 2–3 hours before your event. You must be prepared to let other competitors to use your equipment.

What types of spikes are permitted? +

Only Christmas Tree or Pyramid spikes may be used. Needle spikes are prohibited. Maximum spike lengths are 7 mm for track events and 9 mm for field events.

What are the shoe requirements? +

Soles must not exceed 40 mm in thickness, or 30 mm if the shoe includes spikes.
